High Tea

2 October, 2022 @ 11:00 am 2:00 pm

Join us at the Guildford Town Hall on Sunday, 2 October.

97-99 James St, Guildford WA 6055.

10:45am arrival, for a 11am start.

Our exciting Spring High Tea will showcase local producers and seasonal produce.

The menu reflects the range of delicious seasonal food available at this time of the year from Indigenous produce to locally grown vegetables in Guildford.

Dale Tilbrook, from Maalinup Gallery, provides Bush Tucker tasting experiences and shares her wide knowledge of local food, hunting and gathering practices in the South West. Slow Food is delighted to be using her quandong jam, herbs and spices such as wattle seed, lemon myrtle and river mint in our menu.

Peter and Colleen Osborn, from Wootra Asparagus in Bindoon, grow a range of fruit and vegetables. Their fresh spring asparagus is highly prized and will feature on our menu. Wootra is a recipient of our Slow Food Snail of Approval award for “Good, Clean and Fair” produce.

Catherine Rose and Meg McCallum, producers of Empire Pastry, are also recipients of the Snail of Approval. Located in Darlington, Empire Pastry produces high quality, traditionally made pastry, supporting other WA businesses and sourcing most of their ingredients from local suppliers. We look forward to their wonderful pastry delights in the High Tea.

Peter Langlands, a Snail of Approval recipient, is an Ecologist, Market Gardener and Transition Town enthusiast. He is active in an open food network, Guildford Food Hub. We will feature his freshly picked, seasonal vegetables across the menu at our Spring High Tea.

Prapti, a Snail of Approval recipient, featured in our superb “Guildford Garden to Plate” long table lunch in 2021. Her “Cumin Cook”, Indian vegetarian cooking classes, invite you to experience the joy of cooking delicious food. Our Spring High Tea menu will include a dish Prapti has prepared.

Tamieka Preston was awarded the Snail of Approval for the Northern Valley Locavore Store. Their philosophy of sourcing ethical, sustainable produce from local producers matches Slow Food’s. Tamieka is representing our Slow Food convivium as a delegate at the Terra Madre in Italy in late September. She will also take local products of regional WA to be showcased in the Terra Madre kitchens.

A talented group of Swan Valley Slow Food chefs and members will prepare delicious food for the High Tea.

We are always looking for volunteers for any of our events, in setting up, serving etc. If you are interested in being part of any event, please contact us: svslowfood@gmail.com.
